Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Diaz, alongside Arsenal. The 25-year-old’s current contract with the Spanish giants runs until the summer of 2027.
According to TBR Football, Newcastle United are also eyeing the Manchester City academy graduate. Diaz is said to be dissatisfied with his limited playing opportunities at Real Madrid. This season, he has made nine appearances, starting only two of those games.
So far, Diaz has logged 254 minutes on the pitch, during which he has scored once and provided two assists. Reports from CaughtOffside suggest that AC Milan, where Diaz spent three successful seasons on loan from 2020 to 2023, are also interested in signing the versatile midfielder.
During his stint at AC Milan, Diaz demonstrated his value, registering 12 goals and nine assists in 44 matches for Real Madrid last season across all competitions. However, the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the Santiago Bernabeu has reduced Diaz’s game time significantly. Additionally, a hamstring injury in mid-September sidelined him for over a month.
Despite reported interest from multiple clubs, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti remains impressed with Diaz’s performances and is reportedly not considering a sale, according to Marca.
To date, Brahim Diaz has scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists in 74 appearances for Real Madrid. While Real Madrid appears intent on keeping him, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham are expected to face stiff competition in their pursuit.
Arsenal Reject Real Madrid’s Approach for William Saliba
In another transfer update, Arsenal have reportedly declined Real Madrid’s offer for their defender William Saliba, as per Football Insider. The Gunners are unwilling to entertain bids for the French center-back, who has become a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Real Madrid, currently grappling with injuries to key defenders including David Alaba, Eder Militão, and Dani Carvajal, are actively seeking reinforcements for the January transfer window.
Saliba has been instrumental for Arsenal, contributing to seven clean sheets in 15 appearances this season. Arsenal’s decision to hold onto the 23-year-old underscores his importance to their defensive stability.
With Arsenal standing firm, Real Madrid will likely shift focus to alternative defensive targets in the upcoming transfer window.
