Jackson Chourio shined in his debut MLB season, helping the Milwaukee Brewers reach the playoffs and finishing third in the National League Rookie of the Year race. The 20-year-old made history as the youngest player ever to achieve a 20-20 season, surpassing Mike Trout’s 2012 record. Chourio hit 20 home runs and stole 20 bases by September 13, finishing the season with 21 homers and 22 steals.
Though Trout’s rookie season saw higher totals (30 home runs, 49 steals), Chourio’s milestone highlighted his potential. After a slow start, he hit .305 with 16 home runs and 15 steals from June 1 onward, crediting Brewers manager Sean Murphy for his support.
Despite finishing behind Paul Skenes and Jackson Merrill in Rookie of the Year voting, Chourio’s $82 million, eight-year deal and impressive debut season suggest a bright future ahead.
