Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is returning to the San Francisco 49ers on a two-year, $8 million contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This move comes just days after the team released him to create salary cap space.
Juszczyk, 33, has been a pivotal part of the 49ers’ offense since joining in 2017, earning Pro Bowl honors in each of his eight seasons with the team. Known for his versatility, he has accumulated 212 rushing yards with five touchdowns and 184 receptions totaling 1,895 yards and 13 touchdowns during his tenure in San Francisco.
After his release, Juszczyk explored opportunities with other teams, including a visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, he ultimately chose to return to the 49ers, reportedly accepting less money than what was offered by Pittsburgh.
The 49ers initially released Juszczyk to save approximately $2.93 million against the salary cap. The new contract is structured to provide more financial flexibility for the team while retaining a key offensive contributor.
Juszczyk’s return ensures continuity in the 49ers’ offense, which has experienced several changes this offseason, including the departures of wide receiver Deebo Samuel and offensive linemen Aaron Banks and Jaylon Moore. His presence is expected to bolster the team’s offensive schemes in the upcoming season.
